"O stock of Jesse, you stand as a signal for the nations; kings fall silent before you whom the peoples acclaim. O come to deliver us, and do not delay."
Bugs
destroyed the flowering vines we had growing up our front wall, so we had to
remove them: cut them down to the ground level, dig out the roots, start again.
It’s too bad, because those vines gave a lot of character to our front yard—and
a fair amount of privacy in this urban neighborhood. But we got new plants to
plant from the local nursery, plus some seeds for flowery vines from our
friends Dirk and Sarah.
The new plants are fine, but pale in comparison to the full-grown flowering hedges they replaced. And the tiny shoots the seeds sent up are even smaller and seemingly more insignificant. Hardly a signal to the neighborhood, let alone the nations!
But then one day, suddenly, they came up out of nowhere, and they're growing fast. You can definitely seen a change on a daily basis—with some imagination, you can even see them growing right in front of you. And it gives me hope, hope of fresh starts, hope of new life.
Advent
hope, Advent growth,
Peter
